Preptober Schedule

by Eva, in category NaNoWriMo, Writing Worksheets

This Preptober Prompt Schedule will slide nicely into your traveler’s journal and help you prepare for your best. NaNo. ever. I’ve tried to keep the prompts as general as possible, so that they work for pantsers, plotters, and plantsers alike. However, in case you don’t like my prompts, I’ve included a blank template too. P.S.… Read More

30 Scene Ideas for Plot Development

by Eva, in category Ideas, NaNoWriMo, Plotting

Plot development is best approached holistically, and if you’re struggling with it, I would recommend trying a plot formula to structure your story. However, these scene ideas can certainly jumpstart a flagging plotline, especially if you’re a pantser. Also, don’t miss this How to Plot a Novel video workshop! What develops plot? ACTION & REACTION… Read More

30 Scene Ideas for Character Development

by Eva, in category Characters, Ideas, NaNoWriMo

If one of your characters feels flat or boring, perhaps it’s because you haven’t given them enough ATTENTION. All relationships, even fictional ones, demand care. Character development comes through spending time with your characters on the page; listening to them talk about things that matter to them, following them as they engage with difficult problems,… Read More

📚 I created some traveller’s notebook inserts 📚 I created some traveller’s notebook inserts for myself a while back, and I thought I’d share them with you. You can download them in the Coterie on my website. There are 7 pages and a couple of liners for the reverse that are wider in order to account for printer movements.
✍🏻✨ I’m doing research for a mini course on writing magic. Does that sound like something you would be interested in? 😊

Thank you for your interest in 𝕭𝖑𝖆𝖈𝖐 𝕲𝖗𝖆𝖒𝖒𝖆𝖗 — it’s been so motivating!
I stole the idea for the opening of my novel from Marie Corelli’s 𝘈𝘳𝘥𝘢𝘵𝘩. It all begins with an avalanche…
Rather apt, especially when I remember that I thought 𝕭𝖑𝖆𝖈𝖐 𝕲𝖗𝖆𝖒𝖒𝖆𝖗 would grow into no more than a short story.
I’m now past the 50K mark. I think I have another 18-20K to type up, and I’m aiming for a final MS of 90-100K.
I’ve posted the first few paragraphs in my story highlight, if you’d like to read it.

I had fun putting together this collage sheet with I had fun putting together this collage sheet with Latin language ephemera. I’ve shared it in the Coterie on my website if you’d like to use it. I thought it might make a nice file folder or TN cover? 🤷‍♀️
I love the look and feel of paper. When we were emptying out my parents’ offices, nothing delighted me more than finding forgotten piles of yellowed copy paper and notepads. I hoard wrinkled tissue paper, and brown paper packaging, and calendar pages. And now, to top it off, I’ve discovered those tiny little vellum booklets on Aliexpress. Help! 😬

This is probably my favourite chapter from the textbook: How to Frankenstein Remarkable Creatures & Aliens - taking inspiration from medieval bestiaries. I want to call it a “monster mönster”. Hehe. 🎃
What are your plans for Halloween / NaNoWriMo Eve?
🕯 I’m thinking of doing some writing by candlelight, but I’m looking for ideas!

I'm thinking of being a NaNo rebel and working on my WIP, 𝕭𝖑𝖆𝖈𝖐 𝕲𝖗𝖆𝖒𝖒𝖆𝖗.
So much has changed since I posted this Preptober Schedule last year... but my novel has remained my mainstay. 🖤
