Idea Journal

My first note of the day was to record a dream I had. It reminded me that I haven’t written much about the Return Threshold, the crossing from the Power to the Resolution stage of the One Page Novel.

Mind Map

I made a note on my Manuscript at Midnight mind map to integrate the Return Threshold. And I also remembered that not all characters will make it through and back up into the Ordinary World.

Language Journal

Then I felt like copying out some text into my language journal.

Book Notes

After lunch, I did some reading, and made notes in my Zettelkasten.

Novel Notes

I’m keeping a separate notebook for my Dark Academia notes, and I wanted to remember to work in this theme of “manuscript resurrection” into my story.

Writing Journal

I turned to my writing journal to develop some ideas about an article on the Return Threshold. I drew from the chapter on ‘The Crossing of the Return Threshold’ in The Hero with a Thousand Faces, and from one of my favourite literary exemplars, Jane Eyre.

Worksheet

Since I was having trouble connecting to one of the characters in Dark Academia, I decided to print out the ‘Toast of the Town’ worksheet from Bestseller Over Breakfast, and work on getting better acquainted with her.

I loved watching all the threads connect the common themes of my current interests. I urge you to keep a notebook where you explore these kinds of synchronicities in your own areas of focus.
